HIGHWET Project (titled “Performance and validation of HIGH-rate constructed WETlands”) started in October 2013 due to the sustainable management and global treatment of hydraulic resources are priority issues in modern society. Water with good quality and the adequate amount of clean water are important for human and industrial development, while improving the environment, health and quality of life.

A consortium of 6 partners from Europe, consisting of 2 R&D performer, 3 SMEs, and 1 end-user company collaborate to obtain new wastewater plant configurations in order to uptake new markets: small towns (2,000 to 5,000 p.e.), industrial (food and beverage sector) and livestock farm sectors (Farms with more than 100 heads). Furthermore regional water agency will be involved in the project as stakeholder.

The coordinator of the project is AIMEN Technology Centre.

The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Union Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement n° 605445.
